If you have never done any charity fundraising before, this will probably be the most daunting part. However, don’t be discouraged, fundraising can be lots of fund and you will be surprised how supportive people are – ask anyone who has done it before. But above all, you will discover how rewarding fundraising for a charity is and the sense of achievement will be equal to the achievement you feel at having done your trek. It is easier than you think, we will give you lots of ideas and support –but most of all, having fun doing it.
You can fundraise for the full amount, or just the £1,500 charity donation and pay the rest yourself. Here is £5,000 worth of ideas to get you started and you don’t even need to raise that much! Also, don’t forget to check if your employer will help; many companies run a matched-funds scheme for charity fundraising and will have budgets to do this.
Tell people what you are doing, including your local paper and don’t be afraid to ask for help with arranging fundraising events and don’t be afraid to ask for sponsorships, I promise you, people will surprise you with their generosity and support. |
